
Cyclone Fengal currently located 140km ESE of Chennai and started moving NW direction, It’s likely to cross between Chennai and Puducherry close to Mahaballipuram/Marakanam stretch. Landfall likely to start late in the night to early morning tomorrow
Cyclone likely to stall/very slow movement near the coasts today and hence it will pour massive rains to KTCC today day time. After stalling the cyclone likely to move towards west-southwest direction.
Hence, Villupuram/Cuddalore major rains likely to start from today evening only. Today night to tomorrow morning hours should be watchable for extreme rainfall numbers close to the landfall zone.
Villupuram, Pondicherry and Cuddalore districts also has to be on high alert apart from KTCC due to the wsw movement of cyclone.
Precautions Needed during cyclone Fengal
- Avoid going out unnecessarily unless it’s very much needed, Due to the strong winds weak trees/some electric poles might fall down
- For safety purposes, Power shut down might happen, Hence keep enough power back up for your mobile/laptop and other electronic gadgets as needed
- Have enough water storage to manage for 2 days just in case if we face the worst case scenario
- Avoid parking your vehicles below trees as there are chances for trees to fall down due to persistent strong winds
- Have enough medicines for those who are under medications/for kids/elders
- In short time extreme rains may fall in one zone between Chennai – Pondicherry, Hence if you are in low lying areas based on previous experience take enough precautions
